Choose an obstetrician

Your OB/GYN will determine where you deliver your baby, so make sure your doctor has medical staff privileges at the hospital you prefer. Look for an OB/GYN who supports the type of birth plan you want. You may prefer a natural birth or a traditional birth, either with or without pain medication. Research your options, and decide what makes the most sense for you, your beliefs and your pain threshold.

All maternity suites at Baptist South allow mothers to stay in the same room for the entire birthing process—from labor and delivery through recovery and postpartum care.

Baptist South has a Level II NICU with 14 beds, providing advanced care for newborns with problems that are expected to resolve rapidly. Babies who have more specialized or critical needs may be transferred to Wolfson Children’s Hospital’s Level III NICU.
